A HIPERFACE encoder is a hybrid motor feedback system created by SICK that combines absolute and incremental encoder technologies using sine/cosine analog signals and an RS-485 serial communication channel.
Core Technology and Operation
Hybrid Design: Powers up to read an absolute position via a digital bus interface, then transitions to high-resolution analog sine/cosine tracks for real-time speed and angle tracking.
Electronic Commutation: Eliminates the need for mechanical alignment adjustments by storing motor and feedback data directly in an internal programmable memory chip.
HIPERFACE DSL: An evolution featuring single-cable technology that integrates bidirectional digital communication and power into two wires bundled inside the main motor cable.
