Why you must buy this encoder:
Because Sick offers no solution to end users/ buyers; There is no 1:1 replacement available. If the customer has the possibility to connect a HIPERFACE® encoder with 1024 SIN/COS periods, than they can use a SRS50 / SRM50 or SFS60 / SFM60 for replacement (depending which encoder series is mechanically closer).
The customer has to decide about the mechanical design, which is most suitable to adapt to their application.

as the mandatory interface.
