Rotary encoder + DC tacho-generator
Combined Units: Heavy-duty configurations (such as a tacho coupled with an incremental encoder) are used in tandem on heavy industry motors to get both robust analog control and digital feedback
- Rotary Encoder: Outputs digital square-wave pulses (A/B quadrature channels); tracks precise angular position, direction, and speed via pulse counting.
- DC Tacho-Generator: Outputs a continuous analog DC voltage (V = K × RPM); offers zero-latency speed feedback but no position data.
